TownePlace Suites-Marriott held a Ground Breaking Ceremony on Wednesday, July 7th announcing the future site of their new extended stay hotel located off I-10 in Gonzales in the new Cabela’s development.
TownePlace Suites-Marriott is an extended stay hotel that will feature 95 suites. Brian King, Senior Vice President, Selective Service and Extended Stay Brand Management of Marriott International said, “We are pleased with the continued growth of TownePlace Suites hotels in the Baton Rouge area. Providing an upscale residential atmosphere, this TownePlace Suites hotel will offer an appealing alternative to more standard hotel rooms designed for shorter stays.” The hotel will be in close proximity to I-10 and Highway 30 allowing guests easy access to local businesses such as Tanger Outlet Mall, Cabela’s, Lamar Dixon Expo Center, and the numerous chemical and manufacturing plants located nearby. Each suite will feature a full kitchen with the choice of one or two bedrooms. The hotel will also offer amenities such as free wireless internet, an outdoor pool and grilling patio, guest laundry facilities, a fitness center and meeting facilities.
Mike Eades, Ascension Economic Development Corporation President/CEO applauded the announcement by Manish Patel, the individual responsible for Marriott breaking ground in this area. “Beyond the obvious benefits of new jobs and tax revenues, this project also enhances Ascension Parish’s hospitality product mix. Ascension has been losing business to the Baton Rouge area due to lack of a well-branded extended stay property,” he said. “This hotel will become an asset to the business community and help keep and generate more dollars for Ascension Parish.” Local city and parish officials also agree that TownePlace Suites Marriott will be a great addition to this area. Mayor Barney Arceneaux says, “The city will welcome the Marriott with open arms. It will be a great addition to the city and to all the many visitors that come to the City of Gonzales.” Parish President Tommy Martinez responded to the future Marriott by saying, “We are excited about the arrival of the Marriott family of hotels in Ascension Parish. The TownePlace Suites will provide quality employment for our residents and greatly enhance our parish as a destination for tourism and commerce.”
